Overview
Fleet valuation is an input-led exercise. It does not produce a guaranteed sale price and it should not hide uncertainty behind precise-looking figures. The useful output is a documented view of the factors affecting positioning, channel choice and disposal planning.
Typical workflow
Gather the vehicle identity, age, mileage, specification, service history, body and interior condition, tyre and wheel condition, warning indicators, keys and documents. Review the preparation and image record. Separate confirmed information from items awaiting inspection or jurisdictional confirmation.
Next, define the intended route. Wholesale, trade, retail-facing and cross-border channels may assign different importance to preparation, documentation, taxation, registration and delivery requirements. Comparable research can inform context, but it must reflect the relevant country, vehicle condition, timing and channel. One method does not apply equally across Europe.
Key checkpoints
- Age, mileage and specification are verified.
- Condition evidence is current and traceable.
- Service history and document gaps are visible.
- Target channel and regional requirements are defined.
- Comparable research is relevant and not treated as a guarantee.
Valuation inputs
Vehicle age and mileage provide context. Specification can affect demand, but only confirmed equipment should be included. Body condition, interior wear, tyres, wheels, warning indicators and service history influence buyer confidence and likely preparation costs. Market positioning also depends on regional demand, taxation, registration, import or export rules and buyer expectations. These variables can change without notice.
Wholesale and retail considerations
Wholesale decisions may prioritise speed, risk transfer and preparation cost. Retail-facing routes may require stronger photography, documentation, presentation and customer support. Neither route is automatically superior. The appropriate route depends on objectives, risk tolerance, jurisdiction and the vehicle record.
Limitations
A desk-based assessment cannot replace a mechanical inspection, legal review or live market decision. Current prices are deliberately not published here. Any valuation should be dated, based on stated assumptions and reviewed when material information changes.
Practical checklist
Confirm identity, age, mileage, specification, history, condition, documents, channel, country, tax and registration questions. Record missing inputs and assumptions. State the valuation date. Revisit the assessment when the vehicle condition or market context changes.
